Are we screwed?

Post  rileyl on Wed Mar 24, 2010 7:55 pm

Yes or no. Is ACTA even in full throttle, or happening yet? Can 'the man' get people for things they got from torrents before ACTA is or was put into effect. Although, I have read it is just a scare tactic. Info please

Well atm nothing is final.
Its basicly an advice what goverments could do.

Though a window has been opened to fuck us hard.
And as politicians are more and more about what the corporates want, there is a good possibility
our rights will be pushed asside.

In most countries its already illegal to upload copyrighted material
Download however is legal in some countries.
But if this bill passes Your ISP is required to tell police of your activities
(even only download)
And they will have the right to do a search of your house and computers.
Wich they currently still dont have.

So as a simple awnser.. NO we are not fucked yet
But they are standing infront of our house and they are carrying torches.....
We could let them go ahead and maybe they will not burn our home,
or we could stand up and make sure they dont

they still get people here in the states. there are some heart breaking stories you can find of people serving time in prison atm for offenses, but i guess i never checked if it was dling or uling offenses....

WRITE your congressmen and senators!!! its SUPER EASY and they DO RESPOND! i saw the one instance of a senator or two asking that ACTA be made public, of course they were denied, but each attempt strongly helps. each attempt is made public to some degree, thereby making the act itself public.

I have no idea what this will mean for the UK but I think we're screwed if it does pass (Uk always follows the US), no more DL or TPB for me Sad. At the moment though, people still get caught here, some get arrested depending one what they downloaded/uploaded. This guy at my Six Form said his friend has his internet permently banned by the government cause they found out he illegally downloaded music online.
